In connection with the reports of the Dutch Food Safety Authority (NVWA) about contaminated sesame seeds from India, we inform you about the following. A number of batches of sesame seeds from India have been found to contain residues of ethylene oxide, a substance that is not permitted in the EU. The NVWA concludes that consumption of products containing ethylene oxide does not pose an acute risk to health, but does not rule out an increased risk in the longer term. The products are therefore removed from the market as a precaution.
Van der Meulen stands for high quality and reliability and, in line with the policy of the NVWA, calls back products of which it cannot be ruled out that they are contaminated with Ethylene Oxide. In our bakeries we have completely switched to sesame seeds that have not been affected by this. It concerns a specific amount of products with a certain “best before” date (B.B.D) and lot code which are listed below. Products with a different B.B.D. and / or lot code are not covered by this recall and can be eaten consumed normally.
